Youth Theatre, Drama Program

Acting classes develop confidence and encourage imaginative exploration and discovery. Classes cover theatre games, terminology, improvisation, monologue and scene work. Each class developes every aspect of acting, while students have a ton of fun. Each of the three yearly performances are structured to incorporate fundamental building blocks and allow the student to grow with each show. Drama is especially beneficial for an introverted child. It also aids in building positive self - esteem and open creativity in a safe atomsphere where students are encouraged to grow. It's a fantastic program with little emphasis on becoming professional actors yet providing the skills for acting, public speaking and role playing and laying the ground work for students who wish to pursue drama in college and professionally. For actors interested in musical theatre, Theatre Dance, is offered as a 5 week dance class for male and female actors, singers and older beginners. This class covers basic combinations composed of technical steps for musical theatre jazz, tap and ballet. No special clothing or shoes are needed, however jazz and tap shoes are recommended. We find this class especially appealing to students who feel uncomfortable in traditional dance classes.
